Well Enterprises, the company behind well-known ice cream brands such as Blue Bunny and Halo Top, has announced a voluntary recall of more than 17,000 tubs of its 3-gallon ice cream products due to possible plastic contamination.
According to a statement released by the company, the recall was prompted by the potential presence of plastic pieces in certain batches of ice cream. While no injuries or illnesses have been reported at this time, the company is acting out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety and satisfaction of consumers.
The affected products were distributed primarily to foodservice establishments and not typically available for direct retail sale to consumers. However, Well Enterprises is urging all customers who may have purchased or received the recalled 3-gallon tubs to immediately discontinue use and properly dispose of them.
The company has not yet released specifics about which flavors or lot numbers are involved, but it is expected that further information will be provided to distributors and foodservice partners. Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Well Enterprises’ customer service line for additional guidance.
Well Enterprises emphasized its commitment to quality and safety, stating it is working closely with regulatory agencies to investigate the matter and prevent future incidents.
Consumers and distributors should monitor updates from Well Enterprises and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for more details and instructions regarding the recall process.
