Tomatoes Recalled in 11 States Over Salmonella Concerns

Ray & Mascari Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of tomatoes distributed to 11 states following concerns over potential salmonella contamination. The company stated that the issue stems from possible contamination at one of its supplier’s facilities.

The recall includes tomatoes that were distributed across multiple states, although the specific states and distribution details have not yet been disclosed. Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause serious health issues, including fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Young children, elderly individuals, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to severe infections.

Ray & Mascari Inc. emphasized that the recall is precautionary and was initiated to ensure the safety of consumers. The company is working closely with health officials to investigate the matter and prevent further distribution of the potentially affected products.

Consumers who have purchased tomatoes from the company are urged to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Any individuals experiencing symptoms of salmonella infection after consuming the tomatoes are advised to contact their healthcare provider.

This recall highlights the importance of food safety protocols and the need for thorough quality checks in the food supply chain.
