TikTok Flooded with AI-Generated Videos Promoting Unproven Sexual Enhancement Claims

An increasing number of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated videos are appearing on TikTok, promoting supplements and treatments that claim to enlarge male genitalia. Among the most eye-catching examples is a video featuring a muscular, shirtless man holding an oversized carrot—a not-so-subtle euphemism for male anatomy—touting an unverified supplement’s supposed benefits.

These videos often employ visual metaphors, such as oversized carrots, to bypass TikTok’s content moderation systems that are designed to suppress sexually explicit material. By avoiding direct references and instead using coded imagery and language, these misleading promotions manage to evade automatic takedowns and reach broader audiences.

The rise in such content reflects a growing trend of AI being used to produce highly convincing but factually inaccurate videos and advertisements. Experts warn that not only are these promoted treatments unproven and potentially unsafe, but their widespread distribution on a popular platform like TikTok also increases the risk of misinformation reaching impressionable users.

Public health advocates and digital media watchdogs have called on TikTok to strengthen its moderation protocols and ensure that AI-generated content promoting medical or health-related products is subjected to greater scrutiny. In the absence of stronger oversight, viewers—especially younger users—may fall victim to deceptive marketing strategies that exploit insecurities and circulate pseudoscientific claims.

As AI-generated content continues to evolve in sophistication, social media platforms face mounting pressure to develop robust detection tools and establish clearer content policies to protect users from misleading and potentially harmful information.
