For the second year in a row, Penn Highlands Healthcare has been recognized with Pennsylvania Perinatal Quality Collaborative (PA PQC) Designation Awards, underscoring its commitment to high-quality perinatal care.
The PA PQC is a statewide initiative designed to improve outcomes for mothers and newborns by supporting maternity care providers in implementing evidence-based practices. The designation honors health systems that demonstrate measurable improvements in maternal and neonatal care.
The awards presented to Penn Highlands Healthcare reflect significant efforts by the institution’s maternity units in executing quality improvement strategies. These strategies include enhancing maternal safety, reducing severe maternal morbidity, improving detection and management of hypertension and hemorrhage, and supporting substance-exposed newborns and their families.
“These awards highlight the outstanding work of our healthcare teams across multiple locations who are dedicated to providing the safest and most effective care possible for mothers and their newborns,” said a representative from Penn Highlands Healthcare. “We are proud to be recognized again for our ongoing initiatives that make a real difference in the communities we serve.”
The PA PQC comprises birthing hospitals, Medicaid managed care organizations, and other stakeholders who collaborate through data reporting, education, and performance monitoring to promote better perinatal care. Being honored for two consecutive years places Penn Highlands Healthcare among the leading organizations committed to advancing maternal and infant health in Pennsylvania.
The recognition further emphasizes the hospital system’s proactive approach towards quality improvement and reinforces its role as a leader in prenatal and postnatal care in the region.
