Krispy Kreme to Give Away Free Doughnuts Ahead of Real ID Deadline

Krispy Kreme announced that it will offer free doughnuts on Wednesday, May 7 as part of a promotion tied to the upcoming Real ID deadline. The initiative aims to raise awareness around the May 7 federal deadline for Americans to obtain a Real ID-compliant form of identification for domestic flights and access to certain federal facilities.

The free doughnut giveaway is available at participating Krispy Kreme locations across the United States. Customers do not need to make a purchase or provide proof of Real ID to receive a free doughnut.

The Real ID Act, originally passed in 2005, sets security standards for the issuance of identification documents. After several extensions, the full enforcement deadline is set for May 7, 2025. On that date, travelers will need to show a Real ID-compliant driver’s license or another accepted form of identification to board domestic flights or enter certain federal buildings.

Krispy Kreme is known for offering limited-time promotions aligned with national events and milestones. This giveaway is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to connect with current public interest topics while rewarding loyal customers.
