The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency’s (DCSA) Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) has scheduled a new educational webinar titled ‘AI Risks and Threats to National Security.’ This event aims to broaden public and defense community awareness of the potential dangers and vulnerabilities posed by the rapid advancement and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in national security contexts.
AI systems—capable of advanced data processing, autonomous decision-making, and behavioral prediction—are increasingly employed in both public and private sector operations. However, the growing reliance on AI also introduces a new array of security challenges. These include susceptibility to adversarial manipulation, lack of transparency in decision-making processes, the potential for bias in data-driven outcomes, and the misuse of autonomous systems for malicious purposes by state and non-state actors.
The upcoming CDSE webinar is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to educate security professionals, government employees, and defense contractors about emerging risks in the digital domain. By addressing pressing issues such as AI-generated misinformation, autonomous weaponry, and the exploitation of machine learning algorithms by hostile actors, the session is expected to provide participants with critical insights and practical strategies for mitigating risks.
The date and registration details for the webinar will be announced shortly via the CDSE website. All interested personnel working within or alongside the Department of Defense and the national industrial base are encouraged to attend.
This initiative underscores the Department of Defense’s broader commitment to maintaining technological superiority while safeguarding sensitive information and national interests against evolving digital threats.
