Cucumber Recall Expands: Florida Grower’s Produce Pulled from Major Retailers Walmart and Kroger

Cucumbers grown by Florida’s Bedner Growers are at the center of a nationwide produce recall that has prompted major retailers such as Walmart and Kroger to remove the affected products from their shelves. The recall is being initiated as a precautionary measure following concerns over potential contamination, although specific details regarding the contaminant have not yet been disclosed.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other food safety agencies are currently investigating the source and extent of the issue. Bedner Growers, based in Florida, is cooperating fully with authorities and has taken immediate steps to halt distribution of the impacted cucumbers.

As a result of the initial recall, downstream retailers who received shipments of the affected produce have issued secondary recalls to ensure consumer safety. Both Walmart and Kroger have alerted customers and removed the product from store locations. Customers who purchased cucumbers from either retailer are advised to check purchase dates and return or dispose of the produce if it falls within the affected timeframe.

Consumers experiencing symptoms of foodborne illness such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea after consuming cucumbers should seek medical attention. Shoppers with questions about the recall can contact Bedner Growers’ consumer hotline or reach out to the retailers directly.

Further updates are expected as the FDA continues its investigation. In the meantime, public health officials are urging consumers to stay informed and exercise caution when handling fresh produce from recent purchases.
