Waystar (Nasdaq: WAY), a prominent provider of healthcare payment software, today announced the findings of a commissioned study designed to evaluate the current financial landscape within the U.S. healthcare system and the impact of automation on payment processes.

The study, carried out by a third-party research firm on behalf of Waystar, surveyed healthcare executives and professionals across various organizations. Its findings reveal that a vast majority of healthcare providers are increasingly leaning on automation to overcome long-standing financial challenges, enhance operational efficiency, and improve the patient payment experience.

Key findings from the report indicate that more than 80% of survey participants view payment automation as a vital component for driving improvements in revenue cycle management. Respondents highlighted concerns over increased administrative overhead, staff burnout, and inefficiencies that strain both patient and provider experiences. The study also noted a significant increase in institutions investing in automated solutions to streamline routine billing tasks and manage claim denials more effectively.

Furthermore, the research reinforces the relationship between financial automation and better resource allocation. By reducing manual work, healthcare organizations can redirect human resources to more strategic functions, ultimately aiming for improved patient outcomes.

Waystar CEO Matt Hawkins commented on the report, stating, “Our mission has always been to simplify healthcare payments. These findings further validate the urgency of digitizing revenue cycle functions in order to relieve administrative burdens and help organizations focus on what matters most—patients.”

Waystar’s platform integrates artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies to offer solutions that aim to increase payment accuracy and reduce the time between service delivery and revenue collection. The company serves thousands of healthcare organizations, ranging from medical practices to large hospital systems.

The company plans to use insights from this study to inform future enhancements to its suite of payment software tools and to support healthcare providers in the ongoing transition toward automation.

As automation continues to play a crucial role in modernizing healthcare infrastructure, Waystar’s latest findings contribute valuable perspectives to the broader conversation on technological innovation and operational sustainability in the industry.
