In an effort to improve health outcomes for children in underserved rural areas, Wayne County is continuing its initiative to provide free, comprehensive health screenings through its ‘Get Ready to GROW Program.’ The program targets families with young children, aiming to detect potential health and developmental issues early on.

Launched in Red Creek, New York, the initiative brings critical healthcare services directly to communities where medical resources are often scarce or out of reach. These screenings can play a vital role in identifying hearing, vision, dental, and developmental concerns at a young age, allowing for early intervention and improved long-term well-being.

By removing financial and transportation barriers, the Get Ready to GROW Program ensures that all families — particularly those in economically challenged areas — have access to essential health assessments for their children. The program underscores Wayne County’s commitment to fostering healthy childhood development and providing equitable healthcare opportunities for its residents.

Scheduled dates and locations for the screenings will be announced by county health officials, who encourage families to take advantage of this valuable resource. The initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of proactive pediatric care in shaping better health outcomes for rural populations.
