The Expanding Role of Artificial Intelligence in Daily Life and Art

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been a prominent topic of discussion for several years, and its significance continues to grow. As highlighted on the cover of ArtDog Istanbul’s 16th issue in 2023, technological advancements and emerging possibilities have propelled AI into even greater prominence.

Today, AI is seamlessly integrated into numerous aspects of daily life, often in ways that users may not even recognize. The general public’s attitude towards AI remains largely positive, particularly when it simplifies tasks and operates within human-defined parameters. However, as AI begins to demonstrably exhibit decision-making capabilities, creativity, and originality, particularly in fields like art, new debates are arising.

In creative disciplines, concerns are mounting about the authenticity and value of AI-generated works. Questions about ownership, artistic intent, and the definition of creativity are becoming increasingly pressing. As AI continues to evolve, society faces the challenge of balancing the benefits of this technology with the preservation of human agency and the uniqueness of human creativity.
