South Building to Inaugurate New 43,000-Square-Foot Science Wing Addition

Homewood-Flossmoor High School is set to celebrate a significant expansion of its academic infrastructure with the dedication of a new Science Wing addition to the South Building. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 6, highlighting the completion of a major 43,000-square-foot construction project.

The state-of-the-art Science Wing represents a substantial investment in the school’s STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) curriculum, providing students and educators with cutting-edge laboratory spaces and classroom environments. The addition is designed to support advanced science instruction and foster hands-on learning opportunities aimed at better preparing students for college-level studies and STEM careers.

Officials have not only emphasized the expanded instructional space but also the incorporation of modern educational technologies and sustainability features within the new structure. The opening ceremony is expected to include remarks from school administrators, faculty members, and local officials, who will discuss the long-term impact of the facility on the district and broader community.

The new Science Wing reflects Homewood-Flossmoor High School’s commitment to academic excellence and its forward-looking approach to education in the sciences. The dedication on May 6 will formally mark the transition of this vital addition from a construction project to an active hub for student learning.
