Snapchat Introduces ‘Lens+’, an Advanced Tier of Snapchat+ Subscription

Snapchat announced on Wednesday the introduction of a new subscription tier called ‘Lens+’, expanding its existing Snapchat+ premium service. The new tier aims to provide users with enhanced augmented reality (AR) experiences through improved lens functionality.

Lens+ is designed for Snapchat users who are particularly enthusiastic about the platform’s AR capabilities. By subscribing to this new tier, users will gain access to advanced lens effects, exclusive filters, and potentially early access to upcoming AR features that are not available to free users or even those on the standard Snapchat+ plan.

Snapchat has been steadily investing in its augmented reality technology, which remains a core element of the platform. With millions of users interacting with AR lenses daily, the company appears to be capitalizing on this trend by offering power users the ability to further personalize and expand their experience.

Though Snapchat has not yet detailed the pricing or full list of features for Lens+, the move reflects the company’s broader strategy to monetize its popular user features and appeal to a niche segment of dedicated users.

The standard Snapchat+ subscription, launched in 2022, has provided users with additional features like profile customizations, story rewatch metrics, and other exclusive tools. The introduction of Lens+ could mark a shift towards more granular, interest-based premium services within the Snapchat ecosystem.

Snapchat’s parent company, Snap Inc., continues to seek revenue diversification beyond advertising. Introducing higher tiers of subscription-based services like Lens+ represents a step toward building a more robust revenue model grounded in user engagement and personalization.

The Lens+ tier is expected to roll out gradually, with more details anticipated in the coming weeks as the company starts making the service available to users globally.
