Saint Joseph’s University Partners with Bancroft to Pilot AI for Adults with Autism

Researchers at Saint Joseph’s University are partnering with Bancroft, a nonprofit based in New Jersey, to pilot artificial intelligence (AI) technology designed for individuals living in assisted living communities. The initiative focuses on exploring how AI-powered tools can improve quality of life and provide more personalized support for adults with autism and other cognitive conditions.

The collaboration aims to integrate advanced AI systems, including interactive robots, into daily care routines to assist with communication, routine management, and engagement in therapeutic activities. By using AI, caregivers hope to better cater to individual needs and foster greater independence among residents.

Bancroft has long been a leader in providing services for people with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and brain injuries. This partnership with Saint Joseph’s University represents a step forward in merging academic research with practical care solutions to address ongoing challenges in the field of developmental health support.

The pilot program is currently in its early stages, with researchers closely monitoring outcomes to assess the effectiveness and adaptability of the technology. If successful, the project could pave the way for wider implementation in assisted living facilities across the region.
