Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $54 Million Ahead of May 5 Drawing

As anticipation builds across the country, the Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $54 million ahead of the drawing scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2025. Lottery enthusiasts are closely watching the drawing, hoping to match all six numbers and claim the growing prize.

The Powerball jackpot increases when no ticket matches all six numbers in a given drawing. It had reset after a previous jackpot was won and has been growing steadily in subsequent weeks. Drawings are held three times per week — on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

A single ticket matching all five numbers plus the Powerball number would secure the grand prize, which can be taken as an annuity paid over 30 years or a lump-sum cash option, which is typically a smaller amount. In addition to the jackpot, players can win smaller prizes for matching fewer numbers, with payouts beginning at $4.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are roughly 1 in 292.2 million. Still, millions of players across the United States participate in each drawing, with smaller-tier prizes acting as added incentive.

Officials encourage players to check their tickets after the drawing, which typically takes place at 10:59 p.m. ET and is broadcast from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. Winning numbers can be found on the official Powerball website or through participating state lottery channels.

Lottery organizers also advise participants to play responsibly and to sign the back of their tickets to help ensure proper identification and prize claim process. As always, proceeds from Powerball sales contribute to various state-run programs, such as education, infrastructure, and public services.
