OpenAI Enhances ChatGPT With Shopping Features

OpenAI announced on Monday, April 28, that it has begun rolling out new features designed to enhance ChatGPT’s utility in the online shopping space. These updates aim to make it easier and faster for users to find, compare, and buy products using the AI-powered chatbot.

The initiative reflects OpenAI’s effort to expand ChatGPT’s use cases beyond conversation and content generation. With the newly introduced features, ChatGPT can guide users through various stages of the shopping journey, such as product discovery, comparison of specifications and prices, and final purchase decision-making.

Although details on specific retail partners or integration methods have not yet been disclosed, the company emphasizes that these upgrades are part of a broader strategy to turn ChatGPT into a more functional tool for everyday tasks.

This move is expected to position ChatGPT as a competitor in the eCommerce assistance space, potentially challenging dedicated platforms and voice assistants that already support similar shopping functionalities.
