NASA has decided to terminate the lease for the office space in New York used by a division of the Goddard Space Flight Center. The branch, which focuses on Earth science research, has been part of NASA’s larger mission to better understand the planet’s systems and changes.

The move aligns with broader organizational and budgetary adjustments within NASA, though specific reasons for the lease termination were not immediately disclosed. The affected team has played a key role in analyzing Earth observation data and contributing to climate studies and related sciences.

NASA officials have not yet announced whether the research operations will be relocated or consolidated into other facilities. The Goddard Space Flight Center, headquartered in Greenbelt, Maryland, remains one of NASA’s primary research hubs, involved in a wide range of space and Earth science initiatives.

NASA’s Earth science programs continue to be a priority, and the agency has emphasized its ongoing commitment to understanding and responding to climate change despite this office closure.
