Alexander Htet Kyaw, a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a MAD Fellow, is leveraging emerging technologies to address complex challenges in sustainable design, human-computer interaction, and refugee housing. His multidisciplinary work integrates artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), robotics, and gesture recognition to create forward-looking tools and systems.
Among his key innovations is ‘Curator AI,’ a platform designed to assist in architectural design processes by utilizing AI-driven recommendations based on user input and preferences. Another project, ‘Estimate,’ focuses on enhancing digital fabrication techniques, allowing for more efficient and eco-conscious construction methods. In addition, Kyaw developed ‘BendShelters,’ a modular shelter system intended to provide rapidly deployable and sustainable housing solutions for displaced populations.
His work not only explores technological advancement but also emphasizes real-world impact by targeting specific global needs such as emergency housing and sustainable infrastructure. Through the fusion of computational design and interactive technologies, Kyaw is helping to shape the future of built environments and humanitarian relief.
