Mike Lindell’s Lawyer Requests Trial Delay After Using AI in Court Filing

An attorney representing MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has requested a delay in an upcoming defamation trial after revealing that artificial intelligence was used in the preparation of a legal document.

The trial stems from defamation claims related to Lindell’s promotion of baseless election fraud theories following the 2020 U.S. presidential election. The controversial CEO is facing litigation from voting technology companies, including Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic, who allege that Lindell’s false claims severely damaged their reputations.

The attorney admitted that part of the court filing incorporated content generated by an AI tool, raising concerns over the accuracy and appropriateness of the submission. The lawyer has asked the court for additional time to review and correct the document to ensure it meets legal standards.

The use of AI in legal documents has drawn scrutiny in recent months, with some judges and legal professionals warning of the potential for errors and ethical issues. The court has yet to rule on whether the requested delay will be granted.

This development adds another layer of controversy to the already high-profile legal case, as Lindell continues to maintain his innocence while facing mounting legal and financial challenges.
