Krispy Kreme announced it will offer free doughnuts to customers on Wednesday, May 7 in recognition of the upcoming Real ID deadline. The promotion is part of the brand’s effort to commemorate the new federal identification requirement, which takes effect soon.
The company has not specified whether any purchase is necessary to claim the free doughnut, nor what type or quantity is offered. Krispy Kreme frequently participates in national events and celebrations with similar giveaways to engage customers and highlight public milestones.
The Real ID Act, implemented to enhance security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards, will require travelers to present compliant IDs for domestic air travel and entry to certain federal buildings starting in 2025. By tying the giveaway to this deadline, Krispy Kreme aims to raise awareness among the public while also treating customers.
Customers are encouraged to check with participating locations for details and availability on May 7.
