HUN-REN and Budapest University of Technology Forge Strategic Partnership

Hungary’s leading scientific network, HUN-REN, and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at deepening collaboration across the fields of research, innovation, and education. The partnership underscores a shared commitment to advancing Hungary’s scientific capabilities and technological development.

The agreement aims to integrate academic and applied research efforts, enabling both institutions to tackle complex scientific challenges and better align with national and international technological priorities. It emphasizes joint research projects, the sharing of resources, and the development of joint educational programs that enhance interdisciplinary learning and innovation.

According to representatives from both institutions, the partnership is expected to boost Hungary’s standing in global research and innovation rankings and foster stronger ties between academia and industry. Key focus areas include emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and smart infrastructure.

Through the collaboration, BME and HUN-REN aim to enhance talent development by providing researchers and students with improved access to facilities, mentorship, and funding opportunities. This initiative is also intended to attract new talent and foster innovation ecosystems within Hungary.
