Hartford HealthCare, Connecticut’s leading health system, has announced plans to expand its community outreach efforts through a suite of new programs aimed at improving healthcare accessibility and education. This initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to addressing health disparities and promoting wellness in underserved areas throughout the state.

The organization will implement mobile health units, wellness education seminars, and partnerships with local nonprofits to bring healthcare services directly into communities with limited access. These initiatives are designed to provide preventive care, chronic disease management, and health screenings at no cost to patients who may face barriers such as transportation or lack of insurance.

Jeffrey A. Flaks, President and CEO of Hartford HealthCare, emphasized the system’s dedication to equity in healthcare. “We believe that geographic or financial limitations should not prevent anyone from receiving the care they need. These programs are a major step forward in our mission to make healthcare more inclusive and proactive,” Flaks said.

In addition to direct services, Hartford HealthCare will expand its educational outreach programs. These efforts aim to raise awareness around conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and mental health issues, with the goal of fostering preventative practices and early intervention.

The new initiatives also include collaborations with local schools and community centers to provide youth health education and mentoring, reinforcing the health system’s long-term commitment to community well-being.

These efforts align with Hartford HealthCare’s broader focus on innovation and community partner engagement as it continues to adapt to the evolving healthcare needs of Connecticut residents.
