Governor Kevin Stitt has officially approved a substantial investment aimed at improving Oklahoma’s rural infrastructure. The newly signed bill allocates $75 million in funding specifically for the maintenance and enhancement of county roads and bridges across the state.
This historic investment is designed to address longstanding infrastructure needs in Oklahoma’s counties, many of which have struggled with outdated or deteriorating roadways and bridge systems. The funding package represents one of the largest single allocations for county transportation infrastructure in the state’s history.
Governor Stitt emphasized the importance of the legislation in fostering economic development and ensuring the safety of Oklahoma’s residents. “We are committed to making Oklahoma a top-tier state for infrastructure,” said Stitt. “Investments like this will improve connectivity, enhance safety, and support local economies.”
The funds will be distributed through the County Improvements for Roads and Bridges (CIRB) program, which provides resources for local governments to plan and execute major infrastructure projects. This move is expected to accelerate much-needed upgrades in rural areas that often face funding challenges.
State transportation officials and county leaders have welcomed the investment, noting that improved roads and bridges will not only increase public safety but also support agricultural and industrial operations that rely on reliable transportation networks.
The measure reflects a bipartisan commitment from Oklahoma lawmakers to prioritize infrastructure development as a foundation for long-term economic stability and growth.
Construction and repair projects funded by the $75 million package are expected to begin in the coming months, with priority given to the most critical infrastructure needs identified in planning assessments.
