Google’s Gemini Sees Surge in Usage but Trails Behind ChatGPT and Meta AI

Google’s AI chatbot Gemini has experienced a dramatic increase in user adoption over the past year, according to new data disclosed in court proceedings. The figures indicate that while usage of Gemini has grown rapidly, it still trails behind major competitors in the generative AI space, namely OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Meta AI.

Gemini, developed by Google as part of its growing artificial intelligence portfolio, has been positioned as a direct competitor to other prominent AI tools. The surge in user engagement highlights increasing public interest and reliance on AI-powered services, particularly for tasks such as natural language processing, content creation, and information retrieval.

Despite the rise in usage, Google faces a competitive landscape dominated by ChatGPT, which continues to lead the market in both user base and capabilities. Meta AI also remains ahead of Gemini, leveraging its integration across various Meta platforms including Facebook and Instagram.

The data comes amid heightened scrutiny of big tech companies and their AI initiatives, with ongoing discussions around ethical AI use, transparency, and market dominance. Google is expected to continue enhancing Gemini’s features in an attempt to close the gap with its rivals in the AI race.
