Freepik Launches Open-Source AI Image Generator ‘F Lite’

Freepik, a well-known provider of graphic resources, has released a new AI image generator named F Lite. Marketed as an ‘open’ AI model, F Lite differs from many other generators by being trained entirely on licensed data. This approach ensures transparency and ethical sourcing, addressing ongoing concerns about unauthorized use of copyrighted materials in AI development.

F Lite is designed to be open and accessible, with Freepik making its model architecture and training processes publicly available. This initiative allows developers, researchers, and hobbyists to better understand how the model operates, fostering innovation and trust in the AI community.

However, the model’s advanced capabilities come with significant hardware requirements. Running F Lite locally may not be feasible for users without high-performance GPUs or computing resources. Despite this limitation, the launch represents a step forward in open AI tools, offering an alternative to proprietary services dominated by large tech firms.

With the release of F Lite, Freepik positions itself at the forefront of responsible AI development, promoting transparency, ethical practices, and community engagement in the rapidly expanding field of generative image models.
