Buc-ee’s, the popular Texas-based convenience store chain known for its massive locations and extensive selection of snacks and merchandise, is considering expanding into Idaho. Representatives from Buc-ee’s recently met with city officials in Meridian to discuss the possibility of opening a new location, according to information provided to USA TODAY by city staff.
While no formal site has been selected or timeline announced, the meeting signals Buc-ee’s interest in expanding its national footprint into the Northwestern United States. The company has been on a steady growth trajectory, having already established locations outside of Texas in states such as Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina.
If successful, the Meridian store would become the company’s first in Idaho, introducing the region to Buc-ee’s signature offerings, including high-capacity gas pumps, clean restrooms, branded merchandise, and freshly made food items like barbecue and fudge.
City officials have not disclosed the specifics of the conversation nor confirmed any commitments, but the discussion indicates early-stage planning and site evaluation. Buc-ee’s did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the potential development.
Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s has garnered a cult following for its unique blend of roadside convenience and superstore scale. The potential Idaho location would represent a significant westward expansion for the brand.
More details are expected as talks between Buc-ee’s and Meridian progress.
