AI Pioneer Yoshua Bengio Introduces New Safety-Focused AI Model

Yoshua Bengio, one of the foundational figures in modern artificial intelligence and a co-recipient of the 2018 Turing Award, has introduced a new AI model that he claims will make artificial intelligence systems safer and more controllable. This announcement comes amid heightened global concern over the risks posed by increasingly powerful AI technologies.

The model developed by Bengio is designed to address what is known in the AI field as the ‘alignment problem’—the challenge of ensuring that AI systems operate in accordance with human goals, values, and ethical principles. Artificial intelligence systems, particularly large language models and generative AIs, have shown unpredictable behavior and potential for causing harm if misused or poorly designed. Bengio’s work focuses on mitigating these risks by creating architectures and guidelines that can increase transparency and control over AI decision-making.
